Karen and Kate share their experience adapting CGS for a full year "CGS at home" experience, complete with materials for each child.

This past year, Kate Weber, Coordinator of Children and Teen ministry at the St. Thomas More Newman Center in Columbus, OH, completely adapted our CGS program to be done at home every week for the entire year. Many catechists and volunteers handmade sets of materials that were sent home twice a year so children would have materials to work with at home. A thorough website was created for parents and children to have access to songs, prayer suggestions, CGS national ideas, and how to the use the presentations and materials each week. Karen Broering, a Level 2 catechist in this program, will share about the experience from the catechist perspective, such as how to give presentations to children, prepare parents for what to expect and how to use the materials, and how to present to squirmy kids on Zoom! We tried a variety of ways of presenting scripture and materials, including Zoom, slides, Google docs and more. We will also share feedback they got from parents throughout the year that helped inform us on what worked for families and what didn't.
